The recent volcanic eruption in Iceland is effecting us here in the UK. The ash cloud, which a weather system is spreading like confetti over much of Europe has brought our planes to a near standstill.
But what do other creatures make of it? The ash is said to be made of fine pumice, glass & sulphur. Here in North Wales, we’ve got a fine dusting of it at ground level. I wonder if the sheep can taste it as they munch the grass in the fields? Are the bees and homing pigeons affected as they navigate around the earth?

Being particularly endeared towards pigeons, (we’re in the camp that considers pigeons to be beautiful & intriguing ‘rock doves’), we’re curious how our feathered friends are affected. We’ve even added an Icelandic volcano badge to our handprinted pigeon Tshirt. Now available online in our Etsy shop.
